The cut down version of the music video was difficult because after I'd removed the introduction and ending credit scene the narrative felt slightly hollow. To amend this I included the beginning and ending of the advert for the music video.
The problem with this however was that my computer with the original advert files on stopped working (the battery overheated and caused a electrical blow out). This meant that I had to try and work with the youtube file which was only a single layer, meaning I was restricted to how far I could edit it.
Furthermore this caused a noticeable jump in the quality of the music video. I would argue that since I kept the spiral transition effect from the extended video (although it is only very brief, a second or two at the most), that it provides a visual change matching the audio change. This gives the illusion that the music is playing inside the van hence why it gets louder and clearer once the scene changes.
This is like using non diegetic sounds in a diegetic style.
There are points in the video where I had to cut the actual song apart (due to the three minute time limit of this version). These jumps are noticeable, but I would argue that they give a sense of tension building up to when you finally hear them in full right till the end, making these scenes more prominent and imposing.
